(Spring Break Europe Trip)
Each year the Socials Department takes students for a 7-10 day Spring Break trip through Europe. Completing over 14 trips to locations including Istanbul, Italy, Athens, Egypt, Spain, France, Morocco and more over the years. We are excited to give students an opportunity to travel to the places they study and learn both historical, and cultural information. We are proud to be running such an amazing program for our students here at North! Our 2024 trip will be an amazing trip too! The Socials Department here at Burnaby North is bringing back our Spring Break Eurotrip for March 2024! This year's trip is to Italy & Greece through Explorica Tours. Blue Water Adventures Sailing Expedition (April 2017)
The Socials Department is super excited to announce an amazing opportunity for our Geography and AP Human Geography 12 students! We have organized a 4 day sailing trip on board the Island Roamer around the BC Gulf Islands in April 2017 over the Easter Weekend. This is a LIMITED OPPORTUNITY for only 18 students. The cost and all details will be announced the first week of classes in September 2016. Ms. Carey & Mr. Sokugawa will be the teacher chaperones for this adventure. Stay tuned for more information shortly! Please email me for more information or wait until September 6th for the full detailed package.

MOST RECENT SOCIALS TRIP 2016
ITALY! The Social Studies Department has cancelled the March 2015 Trip to Brazil & Argentina, but has announced that our March 2016 Life Experiences Trip will be an 11-Day trip to Italy! This "Italian Highlights" tour will be a customized and private trip with our own personal guide. We will fly into Milan and travel to the following places: - Venice - Verona - Pisa - Florence - Rome - Assisi - Sorrento - Capri - Pompeii The trip cost is $4200 and deposits are now being taken. This trip will cost will include all flights, taxes, hotels, tips, breakfasts, dinners, and tours. The only additional costs will be spending money and the occasional lunch. The teacher chaperones for this trip will be: Mr. Sokugawa and Ms. Alves. For more information please contact any of these teacher-chaperones for more specific information. Italy here we come!!! |

Socials 9 - Fort Langley Field Trip
Every spring we take all of our Socials 9 students to Fort Langley for a day of exploration and fun! We take them on a full tour of Fort Langley, the BC Farming Museum, and they have a walking-tour scavenger hunt of the town including stops at the CN Rail Museum and more! This all day field trip examines early life of settlers in Canada, the role of First Nations in BC's fur trade history, and the impact of the Fur Trade on both Canada, BC and the lower mainland. It also examines the impact of the Fraser River, Resources and Fisheries on BC's history and early settlement.
Socials 10- Victoria Field Trip
Every spring the Socials Department takes all grade 10 Socials students to Victoria for a full day field trip. This amazing trip includes a visit to the Legislature with a full tour, a visit through the Royal BC Museum, a Walking/Scavenger Hunt of downtown Victoria, and waterfront walking tour as well! We meet at Burnaby North quite early in the morning, take a bus to the Tssawassan Ferries, and then sail over on the bus/ferry right to downtown Victoria. This field trip examines political history, environmental history, and recent economic history of Canada, Victoria, and British Columbia.
Law Studies 12- BC Law Courts Field Trip
Every year our Law 12 classes go to the BC Law Courts to sit in on cases currently in the judicial process. In past years, our students have seen many varying cases from assault, crime, and even the Robert Pickton murder trial. This field trip usually happens in the spring and depends on what cases are in the courts at the time.
